The TMS0500 ROM Platform is the center-piece of the DCM-0500 (Platform) to allow Reverse-engineering of Calculators based on the TMS0500 Building Blocks for Scientific and Programmable Calculators and Recording of ROM Images of the Integrated Circuits (ICs) used with these calculators.

In its core the TMS0500 ROM Platform provides ZIF-Sockets for the ROMs used with the TMS0500 Building Blocks, namely TMC0520 and TMC0530 SCOM (Scanning and Read-Only Memory) Chips in 0.6” wide 28-pin DIP (Dual In-line Package with a 0.1” / 2.54 mm lead pitch) housings, TMC0580 DSCOM (Double Scanning and Read-Only Memory) Chips in 0.4” wide 28-pin SPDIP (Shrink Plastic Dual In-line Package with a 0.07” / 1.778 mm lead pitch) housings and TMC0560 BROM (Bare Read-Only Memory) Chips in 0.3” wide 8-pin DIP (Dual In-line Package with a 0.1” / 2.54 mm lead pitch) housings.

An additional 8-pin Socket with Header allows the use of an SSSM Adapter for the non-destructive connection of TMC0540 CROM (Customer Read-Only Memory) Chips in the Solid State Software Modules™.

Reverse-engineering of products based on the TMS0500 Building Blocks is a multi-step approach and the DCM-0500 Platform can be configured and customized for different purposes during the various phases of the process with three sets of connectors:

• West-Port: Connector for physical calculator or TMC0501/TMC0501E Emulator
• North-Port: Connector for Digital Oscilloscope or Logic Analyzer
• East-Port: Connector for TMS0500 8-Channel Serial Data Recorder 128-Bit Module and TMS0500 8-Channel Serial Data Recorder

The South-End of the TMS0500 ROM Platform is dedicated to the User Interface of the DCM-0500 (Platform) and consists of various push-buttons, switches and LEDs:

• Yellow [CALC] push button to momentarily power an external calculator
• Rocker switch to continuously power an external calculator
• Blue [PLAY] push button to start program of TMC0501/TMC0501E Emulator
• Red [STOP] push button to abort program of TMS0500 8-Channel Serial Data Recorder
• Green [INIT] push button to initialize program of TMS0500 8-Channel Serial Data Recorder
• Green [POWER] LED to signal status of 5 Volt power supply
• Blue [LIVE] LED to signal status of ZIF-Sockets
• Red [RECORD] LED to signal status of TMS0500 8-Channel Serial Data Recorder

Other features of the TMS0500 ROM Platform include level-shifters from all PMOS signals (-10.0 Volts and -15.8 Volts levels) connected to the West-Port to CMOS levels (5 Volts) for the North-Port, East-Port and internal use like generating State S0 synchronization of the TMC0501/TMC0501E Arithmetic Chips and providing Shift- and Store-pulses for the TMS0500 8-Channel Serial Data Recorder 128-Bit Modules.
