The
first edition of the TI-15 Explorer was
manufactured by by contract manufacturer Nam
Tai Electronics, Inc. in China, this calculator purchased in 2008 was assembled
by competitor Kinpo Electronics, Inc. in China, too.

Dismantling
this TI-15 Explorer reveals a typical Kinpo design: The Kinpo-internal SR-xx
designation on the main printed circuit board (PCB) and a Fibreglass PCB for the
keyboard instead the cheaper Phenolic PCB used by Nam Tai. We know a similiar design e.g. with the TI-30X
IIS.
