Bold
and lively colors, large keys, solar and lots of functionality - this is the
marketing description of the TI-1105 introduced in 1987. It was sold together
with three Number 2 lead pencils and and eraser as "Cool Calc" for the Back-to-School
1987/88 campaign.
Three different colors were introduced:
• TI-1105 Turquoise • TI-1105 Magenta • TI-1105 Dark Blue |
Dismantling
this TI-1105 manufactured in July 1987 by Inventec Corporation in
Taiwan reveals a clean design centered around an unknown single-chip calculator
circuit soldered on a double-sided printed circuit board (PCB) and powered by
four solar cells.
Inspecting
the PCB of this TI-1105 calculator brought our attention to a small mark reading
IOTI1105-01C and we started compiling a list of the
PCB-Marks on calculators manufactured by OEMs for Texas Instruments.
The second generation of the
TI-1105 added the [+/-] key of the TI-108.
