Texas
Instruments entered already in 1991 with the PS-6200
the market of Personal Organizers. The design of the PS-6200 was changed in 1992
slightly, please focus on the position of the Texas Instruments logo above the
LCD screen.
Dismantling
this PS-6200 manufactured in 1993 by
Inventec
Corporation in Malaysia reveals no surprises.
The printed circuit board
(PCB) sports a very clean layout and we identify the major components
immediately.
The
hardware of this OEM product - an identical product was sold as Canon
DM-4000 - is centered around a Toshiba TMP0210F Application Specific CPU based on the 8-bit Z80
core.
The
data memory of the PS-6200 is specified with 32k Bytes and we located in this
PS-6200 manufactured in May 1993 a Sharp LH52250 chip.
The
display of the PS-6200 sports 3 lines with 18 characters, each (using a very
compact 5*5 pixel font) plus some fifteen discrete indicators. The driver
electronics for the display is based on a Toshiba T6A21
single-chip solution.
The direct successor of the PS-6200 could be found with the
PS-6300.
