Texas Instruments introduced in the year 1989 with the LOOK series a very colorful basic calculator. Three different designs were available:
• TI-701 aka LOOK Graffiti • TI-702 aka LOOK City Night • TI-703 aka LOOK Blue Ocean |
All models shared the same design idea of a round "light
pipe" to collect the ambient light and travel it to the high efficiency solar
cells.
Dismantling
this TI-701 LOOK manufactured in July 1989 by
Inventec Corporation in Taiwan
reveals a pretty simple internal construction.
The LOOK series of calculators received an award for its outstanding design from the German HIF (Haus Industrieform Essen).
The TI-701 could be called the successor of the TI-1104 introduced three years ago.
