nce upon a time in
With just 50 Deutsche Mark a month – we wrote the year 1982 and nobody thought about the Euro – CCF was able to provide Paula, a young girl living with her family in a remote area in Mexico, education, nutrition and health care. Paula dropped out of the program in 1994 after she turned eighteen and left the school and town for a job in the city.. We – in the meantime I was married to Barbara – decided immediately to continue with CCF and started to support Lisbeydy, a three year old girl living in a very rural area next to Puebla, Mexico without even running water in the homes. In November 1999 we suddenly received a letter from Mexico with the sad news that a landslide due to heavy rain destroyed parts of their house and the crop. When we learned that they couldn’t even afford to buy the bricks to rebuilt the house and planned to use wood instead, we acted quick! Without caring about our own financial situation we committed to pay for all material necessary to rebuilt the house and it worked! In 2006, barely six weeks after our move from Germany to the United States of America, we were able to attend the Quinceañera Celebrations of Lisbeydy - a life changing experience for me and my family.
Today, more than 25 years later, we support five children
and teenager all over the world through ChildFund International (Christian Children’s Fund changed its name July 1st, 2009) and one handicapped boy in India through “The Tibet Fund”.
