Both variants of the SR-56 side by side.  

The printed circuit boards of the two SR-56 are identical. 

The main electronics of the SR-56 consists of the Arithmetic chip TMC0501, two Read-Only 
Memories with the software TMC0537 and TMC0538 and one Read/Write Memory TMC0599,
Please notice the production date of the TMC0537 chip - week 11 year 1976.  

This late SR-56 was manufactured in June 1977, some weeks after the introduction
of the TI-57, TI-58 and TI-59.
