The Galaxy 9
is almost identical to the Galaxy
9x introduced one year earlier. The only difference is one key, we know
similar siblings with the German Galaxy Junior
and the French Galaxy 10.
The
first design of the Galaxy 9 - introduced
already in 1991 - received after two years a slightly changed color scheme. The pictured Galaxy 9 was manufactured in the
year 1995 and still available in 2002 at an airport shop in Lisboa (Portugal).
Dismantling
the Galaxy 9 reveals a small surprise, the calculator is 100% identical with the Galaxy 9x.
The
Toshiba T6A60 single-chip calculator circuit found in this Galaxy 9 manufactured
early in 1995 reads a Texas Instruments part number "1111273-4021",
probably a ROM-Code identifier of the embedded software.
The spirit
of this calculator was repeated with the TI-15
introduced in 1999 and the TI-Primaire
Plus in 2014.
