This
Galaxy 40 sold in Belgium, France and Italy is a slightly modified version of
the Galaxy 40x sold
elsewere.
The only difference between this two calculators is the behavior in calculations with fractions. While the Galaxy 40x accepts the input of "units" with the u key the Galaxy 40 works with real fractions only.
Galaxy 40 (French fractions):
| 2.5 D-F 25/10 |
Galaxy 40x (German fractions):
| 2.5 D-F 2 u 5/10 |
Texas Instruments continued its calculator line supporting "French fractions" and introduced in 1997 the TI-40 Collège.
Koen
van Driessen explored his Galaxy 40 and got an identical calculator chip like the
40x ! Even the printed circuit board (PCB) is identical with the Galaxy 40x.
If you are interested in the selftest procedure of the Galaxy 40 calculators you should read
Koen's article here.
