PLT-DS1_1.jpg (241901 Byte)The Datamath Calculator Museum received this PLT DS1 Data Sled together with some unique graphing calculators as a loan from Texas Instruments in February 2008 to photograph and document it.

We learned from Texas Instruments that they developed a family of next-generation Personal Learning Tool products based on the LINUX operating system. The Dallas, TX based team nicknamed it PET Project and this PLT DS1 accommodated the PLT SHH1 or Spot Hand held. With the PLT WS1 Wireless Sled a second cradle with a wireless LAN module was developed, too.

The PLT DS1 cradle features just basic some connectivity:

USB 1.1 connector
Serial interface, e.g. for Calculator-Based Laboratory™ CBL 2™ or keyboard
Charger for PLT SHH1 battery

PLT-DS1_PCB.jpg (234569 Byte)Disassembling the PLT DS1 reveals nothing more than 3 connectors for the above mentioned connectivitiy and a driver for the USB port on a small PCB (printed circuit board).
